A steward-owned games console

A gaming experience no one can take away from you.

Bauta I plays a small, hand-picked catalogue from cartridges you actually own. The hardware is built to keep working long after the company that made it is gone. Not for sale yet. Join the list to see it first.

You're on the list.

We'll write when there's something real: a prototype, real numbers, a working cart. Not before.

The Bauta I console
What it is

What we're building

An appliance, not a subscription.

Four commitments, made before a single unit ships. They're the whole reason Bauta exists.

The object

A cartridge, not a download.

Physical media you own outright. Lend it, resell it, keep it on a shelf. It works with no account, no server, and no one's permission. The cart is yours, not a licence you rent.

The shelf

Curated, not flooded.

Every title is chosen and checked by a person before it earns a place. A small shelf you can trust instead of an endless store you have to dig through. The curation is the product.

The structure

No exit. No games tax.

Stonevakt is steward-owned, so it can't be sold off for a payout. We make our money on hardware and take no cut of the games. Not now, not ever.

The span

Built to last generations.

One cartridge format, kept compatible for the long run. A future, more powerful Bauta will still play the carts you buy for the first one. We're designing for that from day one.

Why there's no buy button

There's no buy button because there's nothing to buy yet.

We're still building it: a working prototype, a cartridge that actually slides in, and costs we can stand behind. When there's something real, you'll see it.

This list is how we find out if anyone wants it. Enough people do, we build it. If not, we don't.
